Solid Fuel Merchants Ireland (SFMI) is the country’s largest representative body for businesses and retailers engaged in the sale and distribution of solid fuels.

SFMI’s membership comprises of 50 businesses, who are based in every city, town and village in Ireland. The organisation aims to act as a proactive partner to key stakeholders, including Government and State Agencies, helping to inform and guide on best practice in the industry. SFMI advocates for a proportional policy approach which recognises the necessity of solid fuels as a source of energy.

Colin Ahern – Chair

Colin Chairperson of SFMI and Owner at Marble City Fuels, Kilkenny. His family has been in the solid fuels businesses for the past 35 years. Colin has previous experience working in sales and marketing, for Erin Foods and Campbell Soups.

Nessa Duffy

Nessa Duffy is MD of the Harbour Trading Co., Bray, Co. Wicklow which has been in business over 45 years.

Nessa is a 2nd generation fuel merchant of gas, coal, wood and renewables.

Peter Madden

Peter Madden is owner of Maddens Fuels based in the centre of Ballinasloe town.

Maddens are proud to have over three decades of service to the community and local businesses.

Damian Molloy of Molloy fuels – a small family run business with over 45 years experience in the industry.
